New “coming soon” signage is now up (photo below shared by Belinda Prather) at the future home of Kusshi Sushi in Germantown, marking another visible step forward for the popular local sushi brand’s expansion.

A Montgomery County Circuit Court judge sentenced Ervin Alfaro-Lopez, 34, of Germantown, to 55 years in prison, with all but 20 years suspended, after he pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor and three counts of third-degree sex offense.

K2 Cafe is expanding. The popular Poolesville-based cafe will open a second location at the Clarksburg Market, located at 23335 Frederick Road in Clarksburg, bringing its Himalayan-inspired bowls, wraps, and specialty drinks to another Montgomery County community. In Clarksburg, one resident is quietly spreading holiday magic and bringing smiles to families throughout the community.

If you’ve seen the movie The Conspirator you know that George Andrew Atzerodt (alias Andrew Atwood), was one of the Lincoln assassination conspirators executed on July 7, 1865. Atzerodt was arrested in Germantown, the town where he had spent many years as a boy. How he got involved with the Booth gang and why he ended up back in Germantown is a compelling story.
