On Saturday we let you know that Outback Steakhouse closed its Germantown location after more than 30 years in business. The closure is part of parent company Bloomin’ Brands decision to close 41 restaurants across its portfolio that also includes nearby closures of Bonefish in Ashburn, VA and Carrabba’s in Reston, VA.

As Outback Steakhouse prepares to open its new location in Downtown Silver Spring, the chain has closed its Germantown restaurant at 12609 Wisteria Dr. in the Germantown Square shopping center after more than 30 years in business.

Chick-fil-A in Germantown previously had plans to temporarily close its doors for approximately two weeks for renovations in December, but those plans were pushed back. The store has now received its permits and will be closing Saturday, February 24th at 2:00 pm for approximately 2 weeks.

Construction progresses at Neelsville Middle School, located at 11700 Neelsville Church Rd in Germantown. The project, which includes a brand new school building, is expected to be completed by August with students beginning in the new school building next school year (photo above and below).
