Starting Sunday, June 30, Metro customers will see a slight fare increase, which Metro says will “help keep fares in line with cost of living adjustments and allows us to keep running our current levels of service.”
As advocates for customers with disabilities and senior citizens, Metro’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) is looking for new members that will continue to help shape accessibility throughout the Metro system. The design of Metro’s new 8000-series railcars, low-floor buses, and budget, are just some of the significant issues the AAC has a role in.
For the first time, Metro is inviting transit lovers across the region to come together for a family-friendly celebration. Metro Fest is a community event open to the public at no cost. The event will include arts and crafts, games, entertainment, snacks, water, and Metro-branded giveaways.
In recognition of Juneteenth, Wednesday, June 19, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight, operating on Saturday service levels. Metrobus will run Saturday Supplemental service, to provide additional buses beyond the typical weekend schedule but less than a normal weekday.

This weekend, June 8 – 9, Metro will perform maintenance and repairs on the Red and Green lines, with normal service across the rest of the system. Trains will serve 93 of Metro’s 98 stations. Yellow Line service will also extend to Greenbelt instead of stopping at Mt Vernon Square, providing additional service for expected crowds along the Pride Parade route and other Pride Weekend events.
