On Sunday, the Montgomery County Board of Elections responded to a tweet that showed a photo of a partially filled-in ballot that was provided to a voter in Takoma Park, explaining that “a voter was inadvertently handed a ballot that had been partially completed by another voter that should have been voided.”

Olney

Updated to include the establishment opening in the space later this year.

In what seems to be unfortunate timing for an ice cream shop, Cold Stone Creamery will be closing its Olney location from June 1st until the fall of 2024 as it moved to a new location within the shopping center. We have since learned that Classic Bakery will be moving into the space that Cold Stone is vacating.


Beyond MoCo

The Dyrt, a popular app among campers, has announced the winners of its 2024 Best Places to Camp in the Northeast Region.  The awards are based on reviews and ratings from the site’s large community of campers. Included on the list are Cherry Hill Park (College Park, MD) at number 4 and Oceanside Assateague Campground (Assateague Island) at number 9.


Education

The Montgomery County Board of Education will hold a business meeting Thursday, May 23. This will be the first meeting at the Board’s new location, 15 W Gude Drive, Rockville. The meeting agenda is available below. The meeting will be cablecast live on Comcast Channel 34 (HD 1071), Verizon Channel 36, RCN Channel 89 and the MCPS website.
