New, Publicly Listed Company to be 51% Owned by Endeavor and 49% by Existing WWE Shareholders. Endeavor to Contribute UFC into Company at Enterprise Value of $12.1 Billion

Former Montgomery County resident Vince McMahon, owner of  World Wrestling Entertainment, has entered an agreement with Endeavor, the parent company of UFC, “to form a new, publicly listed company consisting of two iconic, complementary, global sports and entertainment brands: UFC and WWE.” McMahon and his family lived on Stedwick Dr in Montgomery Village in the late 60’s/early 70’s. His son Shane McMahon, who returned to the company at Sunday night’s Wrestlemania and injured himself at the event, was born while the family lived in the area and considers himself a Gaithersburg native.


Rockville

The City of Rockville will host four interactive listening sessions to kickoff outreach and engagement for the Town Center Master Plan update, which will help guide the area’s success in coming decades.

The same material will be covered at all listening sessions, so only one needs to be attended. Light refreshments and a children’s activity area will be available at the in-person sessions. A master plan is a long-range document that establishes a vision for future growth and development, and makes recommendations for zoning, streetscapes, public infrastructure, and other aspects of land use.


Gaithersburg

The Alliance for Parks of the Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recreation Corporation (G-PARC), along with the Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture, are pleased to announce the Second Annual Photo Contest, designed to showcase the best of Gaithersburg’s Parks, Arts & Recreation. Photos should illustrate the connection between parks, arts & culture, and recreation in the City, and must be taken in a City Park. Photos should fall under one of the following themes.

The top 12 photos will be announced at the end of May. A panel of jurors comprised of local artists, members of G-PARC, & members of the City’s Communication & Public Engagement Divisionwill select the winners. In addition, G-PARC will chose a random winner weekly during the month of April. G-PARC will announce all winners on Instagram & Facebook, and notified via social media channels. The objective of this contest is to expand G-PARC’s social media presence through photo documentation of the City’s parks and activities.


MoCo

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project next week to improve several state roads in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Crews will remove line stripping and pavement markings and apply a micro-surface coating that protects and extends the life of the asphalt. Weather permitting, work will be complete by early summer.

Work will take place weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and overnights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During work hours, motorists can expect lane shifts and single lane closures guided by a flagging operation. The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience and asks motorists to be patient and stay alert in the work zones. The locations in Montgomery County are as follows:

MCFRS

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) recently shared the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Service’s “Guidance for Use of Fire Pits, Fire Bowls and Chimineas in One- and Two-Family Homes Including Townhomes”.  Per MCDPS, “The Use of Fire Pits, Fire Bowls, Chimineas and other similar appliances has become popular in our community. Germantown

Montgomery County Police responded to reports of shots fired around 2pm on Sunday April 2.  According to MCPD, the incident occurred near the town houses on Celebration Way, off Middlebrook Rd in Germantown (across from Germantown Commons Shopping Center) and stemmed from an argument between several individuals which led to shots being fired. There were no injuries reported and there is believed to be no threat to the community at this time. Two juveniles that were seen running away from the scene were taken into custody but neither was identified as the shooter. The shooter is believed to have left the scene in a vehicle.

Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Police and Gaithersburg Police responded to a stabbing on Friday, March 31, at the Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg.  According to a report by WTOP, four juveniles were taken into custody following the incident. Officers at the scene located a juvenile female victim who was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Gaithersburg

Kentlands Baby Bar is planning a Spring opening, according to its website. It Will open at 375 Main St. in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. The space will offer “food, fun, and socializing” where “you enjoy a coffee and a bite, while your little ones get yummy food and a baby-friendly place to play!” Baby Bar Kentlands will offer fresh fruits and veggies and will have options for babies (puréed or chopped), food for kids like grilled cheese, egg bites, croissants, and more, and food for adults like bagels, muffins, fruit bowls, and more.

Germantown

The Germantown WIC Office has closed permanently, according to an email sent to families last week. Families are being directed to the Gaithersburg office a few miles away. WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. It is an American federal assistance program of the Food and Nutrition Service of the United States Department of Agriculture for healthcare and nutrition of low-income pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children under the age of five.
