Badlands, a children’s play space that offered a nature inspired, interactive environment for learning through risk and play, has been closed since March of 2020.
The play space, located in Loehmann’s Plaza (Rockville/North Bethesda), recently announced a “pivot” that involves donating a massive space to CityDance School and Conservatory– a nonprofit dance institution dedicated to developing young dance artists and innovators.
Per Montgomery County:
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Councilmember Craig Rice and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) today introduced new dedicated bus lanes at the Germantown Transit Center. The lanes, which have been painted red and are located on Crystal Rock Drive, Century Boulevard, and Aircraft Drive, allow buses to easily access the transit center.

Our Lady of Good Counsel High School at 17301 Old Vic Blvd in Olney announced today that it was ending in-person instruction several days earlier than scheduled for winter break after 21 students at the school tested positive for the coronavirus. The last day of school before the break begins was originally scheduled to be this Friday.
Mid terms were scheduled to take place for students on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week and have now been pushed back until January.
Prince George’s County has filed three counts of criminal animal cruelty against Jerry Holly, the owner of the animal farm. A second dead zebra was also found on Holly’s property.
According to the Washington Post, Holly operates a second farm in Florida and has been cited for “multiple animal welfare violations that include inadequate veterinary care, unsafe enclosures and dirty conditions, according to USDA inspection records.”

Kendall Fuller has joined the list of Washington football players to be placed on the team’s Covid-19 list, making it 10 total for the Football Team.
In addition to playing for the Football Team, Fuller has additional local ties– he attended Good Counsel where he played football and participated in track & field.
Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the honorable Judge Harry Storm, defendant Kevin McGuigan, 24, of Rockville, MD, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the death of his mother, Jaclyn McGuigan.
He faces a maximum of life in prison and will be sentenced at a hearing scheduled for January 3rd at 8:30 a.m.

Charles Snowden signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia back in May.
The 6’7 outside linebacker is from Silver Spring and started out at Blake High School before moving on to St. Alban’s in DC.
