Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and a coalition of 22 other attorneys general have filed a second motion for enforcement in their lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging the continued withholding of FEMA funds despite court orders to release them. The motion, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, seeks a court order to ensure the release of federal emergency funds for wildfire prevention, flood mitigation, cybersecurity, and disaster response programs.

The deadline to host a Montgomery County Public Schools Summer RISE student is Friday, March 7, offering businesses, nonprofits, higher education institutions, and government agencies the opportunity to provide rising juniors and seniors with career exploration experiences from June 23 to July 25.

MoCo Government

Montgomery County Council committees will review the FY26 Capital Budget and amendments to the FY25-30 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) for the Department of Transportation, Montgomery County Police Department, and Housing Opportunities Commission on March 3. Governor Wes Moore announced initiatives to support Marylanders affected by federal workforce layoffs and funding changes, including expanded online resources, job fairs, and streamlined hiring processes for public service roles. The state is partnering with local leaders and agencies to assist workers in transitioning to new careers, particularly in education and government.

Crime

On Thursday evening in Montgomery County’s Circuit Court, Judge Jill Cummins sentenced defendant, Cynthia Moore, 42, of Montgomery Village, to 30 years in prison suspending all but 21 years to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release after Moore was previously convicted on six counts of child neglect.
