For Immediate Release: Wednesday, April 13, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD – Two adult males are in custody following a homicide on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

At approximately 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Montgomery County Police 4th District officers responded to the area of 1000 Good Hope Drive in Cloverly, for the report of a shooting.  Multiple witnesses called the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) to report that a male had been shot and the suspects fled in a green Toyota sedan.

Upon arrival, responding officers located the victim, 19-year-old Jahiem Rayquan Pinnock of Silver Spring, in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  4th District Officers provided immediate first aid until Montgomery County Fire Rescue arrived.  Pinnock was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A lookout was placed for the suspect vehicle, a green Toyota sedan with tape near the front bumper.  At approximately 3:48 p.m., a 3rd District officer on his way to roll-call and having heard the lookout, spotted the suspect vehicle in the area of southbound New Hampshire Avenue and Jackson Road.

The driver of the Toyota sedan sped off, as 3rd District officers attempted to make a felony stop on New Hampshire Avenue. The suspect vehicle accelerated, running through a red light at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Lockwood Drive, eventually crossing the center median, causing damage to one of its tires. The Toyota sedan came to a stop on Powder Mill Road, and one of the suspects, 20-year-old Glen Ellis, fled on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, Ellis was taken into custody. The driver of the Toyota, 19-year-old Jose Angel Calderon Nolasco, was taken into custody without incident.

Ellis, of Takoma Park, and Calderon Nolasco, of Beltsville, were transported to the Central Processing Unit (CPU), where they have both been charged with murder and await a bond hearing.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are asking anyone who has information about this homicide to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS(8477).  A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the homicide suspect(s). Callers can remain anonymous.

Last month we let you know that Buffalo Wings and Beer had closed in the Cloverly Village Center (15412 New Hamphire Ave). According to employees, the restaurant closed on January 4th.

This morning we confirmed that the restaurant will once again open, as it will be taken over by the owners of Dominic’s Italian Grille in Colesville. The BWB name will remain, but the acronym will have a slightly different meaning as the restaurant will now be named Bourbon, Wings, and Beer.

As of now, the restaurant remains closed as new ownership awaits a few licenses and permits, so there is no reopening date available.

About the previous restaurant, Buffalo Wings and Beer

It was founded and created in 1995 by the late Ira Levy, a Silver Spring native who was able to grow the local chain to 10 restaurants across the DMV at one point. The first restaurant opened in Gaithersburg after Levy saw a restaurant go out of business on Snouffer School Road, near the old Gentleman Jim’s location.

The eventual expansion included locations in Cloverly, Baltimore, Eldersburg, Frederick, Germantown, Glen Burnie, Hagerstown, and Leesburg, VA among others, even becoming a sponsor of the Washington Football Team for a few years.

A highlight for the local restaurant chain was winning the National Buffalo Wing Festival that is held every year in Buffalo, NY. Buffalo Wings and Beer was first selected to compete in 2008, earned a 2nd place finish in 2009, and won the competition of over 185 restaurants in 2010.

The Cloverly location was the last remaining of the restaurants.

Buffalo Wings and Beer has closed in the Cloverly Village Center  (15412 New Hamphire Ave), according to employees of the restaurant who told us the restaurant closed on January 4th.

Earlier this month, signage was placed on the window stating the restaurant was closed temporarily due to a staffing shortage, but the pool tables and juke boxes were removed from the restaurant. Google now lists the restaurant as permanently closed.

None of the D.C. area’s top zip codes for homebuyers are in the District, according to a Zillow analysis highlighted in a report by Axios.

They’re all in suburbs and even exurbs of the city, including one in West Virginia. Three of the five can be found right here in MoCo.

Per Axios, “The online real estate marketplace tracked which ZIP codes had the highest number of average website views in the D.C. metro.”

The top 5, which were not presented in order include the following MoCo zip codes:

20854: This includes part of Potomac. The typical home value in this area is $1,073,039, according to Zillow, up 12.8% from last year.

20851: This covers part of Rockville and North Bethesda. The typical home value in this area is $468,035, a 9.9% increase over the last year.

20905: This area primarily consists of Cloverly. The typical home value in this area is $594,147, an 11.6% increase over the last year.

Dan Reed of Just Up The Pike referred to Cloverly as “Potomac-sized houses without Potomac prices.”

The MoCoShow’s real estate expert, Nurit Coombe of The Agency DC and Team Nurit, says “Montgomery County has always been attractive. People are moving out of DC for more space.”

”We have great schools, excellent services, new shopping centers and restaurants, and a lot has changed in the past few years.”
