Update on Dog Haus in Silver Spring
Dog Haus has let us know that they are looking to hold the soft opening of their new location at 933 Ellsworth Dr in Downtown Silver Spring around November 22.
Co-founders Nick Wiseman, David Wiseman and Ronen Tenne plan to open a Little Sesame restaurant at 7118 Bethesda Lane, Bethesda, Maryland, later this year, proudly joining the stellar line up of restaurants and retail in downtown Bethesda.
The opening will be the hummus brand’s first outpost outside of DC. Little Sesame is excited to bring their freshly spun hummus, seasonal pita sandwiches to the neighborhood. The fan favorite shawarma-spiced rotisserie family meals will join the menu as the perfect dinner choice along with a curated selection of quality beer, natural wine, and low ABV canned cocktails. Nick Wiseman says: “We’ve always wanted to open a shop in Bethesda” notes Wiseman “We got such a warm welcome to our Sugar Fox Pop Up and the Bethesda Central Farm Market and we’re thrilled to plant permanent roots in this community.”
Tipico Dominicano, which started as a food truck on New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park and Georgia Avenue in Wheaton, has taken over the recently closed Flor De Luna location at 11417 Woodglen Drive in Rockville.
The restaurant offers Dominican specialties like picadera (finger foods you can eat with your hands), salami frito (fried salami), queso frito (fried cheese), chicken/cheese/beef pastelitos, and more.

The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair Opens Today
After COVID caused last year’s fair to be cancelled for the first time in it’s 70 plus year history, the Montgomery County Fair returns today, August 13th at 3PM and will run through Saturday, August 21st.
The latest edition of the TasteMoCo Passport will be available this Friday, August 13, at 3PM exclusively at the MoCoShow booth at the Montgomery County Fair! The Montgomery County Fair’s 2021 Fair Foodie Awards This Friday at 6pm
The third annual Fair Foodie Awards will take place this Friday, August 13th at 6pm at the seating tent across from the souviner booth at the Montgomery County Fair. Concessionaires will be serving the items all 9 days of Fair!
Black Lion Café, which has a location in Rockville, will be opening a new location in the Fenton Silver Spring apartments at 8240 Fenton St in Silver Spring.
In addition to coffee, the Black Lion Café serves smoothies and vegan baked goods at their 9705 Traville Gateway Dr. location in Rockville.We will post an update when an opening date is announced.
Fryer‘s Roadside at 12830 New Hampshire Ave (former location of Chopaan Kabob House) in the Meadowood Shopping Center is now open. The restaurant offers farm-fresh fried chicken, hand-cut fries, coleslaw, fried rice, soft-serve ice cream, and snowballs.
We spoke with owner Steve Englehardt back in the spring and he told us their sauces will all be made in-house and will feature mumbo sauce, a Memphis style hot sauce, and habanero sauce with the habanero and jalapeño peppers grown in the garden behind the restaurant.All of their rolls come from nearby, and locally legendary, Woodmoor Bakery.
