Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision with entrapment Tuesday morning in Rockville. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the collision occurred on E. Gude Dr and Dover Rd, in front of Rockville Metals, and involved three vehicles. Several patients were evaluated with non-life threatening injuries.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a collision on Muncaster Mill Rd on Monday, April 10. According to Montgomery County Police, “At approximately 4:24 p.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 6300 block of Muncaster Mill Rd. for the report of traffic collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation has revealed that a 17-year-old female was walking two dogs in the area of the Upper Rock Creek Trail, when for reasons still under investigation, she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene. The two dogs died at the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.”

Muncaster Mill Rd. is closed between Bowie Mill Rd. and Needwood Rd. as the result of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. Drivers should expect delays and seek an alternate route. Montgomery County Police tweeted the following at 5:30pm on Monday, April 10:

“MCPD is investigating a traffic collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Muncaster Mill Rd. between Bowie Mill Rd. and Needwood Rd.
1 person has been transported to area hospital with serious injuries.
2 dogs have been killed as a result of the collision.”

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision with ejection around 7pm on Saturday, April 8 on westbound I370 in Gaithersburg. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, EMS transported four adults, including one Priority1 trauma patient with life-threatening injury, two Priority 2 non-life threatening trauma patients, and one Priority 3 patient with non-life threating injuries. Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center has provided an update on the mother who gave birth to her baby girl on southbound I-270 early Friday morning: “Alexa Almonte never expected her first daughter to arrive roadside, but baby Valentina had other ideas. Mom and baby are resting comfortably at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center after the exciting delivery Friday, April 7. Valentina was born along southbound I-270 in Germantown at about 2 a.m.

Valentina weighs 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measures 21 inches. Her name means “healthy and strong” says Alexa, who also has two sons. Alexa says the delivery was “very unexpected” and came just 30 minutes after experiencing signs that she might be in labor. She praised the outstanding nurses at Shady Grove Medical Center for the care and emotional support they are providing to her family after the experience. “It’s so important to have,” Alexa says.

She takes the exciting arrival as a sign that Valentina will remain strong and exceptional. “God was very intentional in how he picked her to come.”

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire on Drumcastle Ct, near Frederick Rd and Germantown Rd, on Friday, April 7 around 11am. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the occupants of the home smelled smoke and discovered that the roof of the townhouse was on fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be “resistive heating of electrical wire which ignited wood framing.” One family (two adults, two kids) has been displaced and damage is estimated to be ~$80-100K.

A mother gave birth to a child on southbound I270 between Route 121 and Route 27 (Ridge Rd) in Germantown on Friday morning around 2am. According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Pete Piringer, both mother and newborn were transported to the hospital by EMS and everyone is doing well.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the 7-Eleven on New Hampshire Ave in Colesville for the report of a vehicle into a building. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the vehicle hit the front door of the 7-Eleven around 4pm on Wednesday, April 5. There were no injuries reported, only property damage. A building inspector has been requested.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a vehicle fire involving a “Chariots for Hire” charter/limo bus on the inner loop of I495, between River Rd. and the I270 spur on Tuesday morning around 11am. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire has been extinguished and there were no passengers on board. No injuries have been reported. Some lanes are currently blocked and drivers should expect residual delays.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire on Prairie Rose Ln., off Muddy Branch Rd in Gaithersburg on Monday, April 3. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the fire originated in a basement workshop area of the three-story townhouse and was likely caused by lithium batteries. Smoke alarms alerted residents of the fire, who then attempted to fight the fire themselves before notifying MCFRS. All human occupants made it out of the home safely and two adults have been displaced.  Firefighters located two cats, one of which was successfully resuscitated, and one that did not survive. Approximately 60 firefighters responded to the scene. Damage is estimated to be ~$100K.
