Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – 2nd District Patrol Investigations Unit have arrested and charged Shikia Kenya Newell, age 38 for the July 2021 reports of fraud occurring in Silver Spring.

A fifth grade student at Farmland Elementary School has died, according to a letter sent home to the Rockville elementary school community.
The Board of Education will hold its business meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021. Closed session will begin at 12:00 p.m. Public agenda items will begin at 2:30 p.m.
The meeting will be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 34, Verizon Channel 36, and RCN channel 89. The meeting can also be viewed on the MCPS website at www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org

Student Member of the Board of Education, Hana O’Looney will host a live virtual Student Town Hall on Monday, Oct. 25 from 7 – 8 p.m. Her guest for the hourlong event will be Interim Superintendent Monifa B. McKnight. They will answer questions that have been submitted prior to the program and live from Instagram.

The principals of Quince Orchard and Northwest high schools have sent a joint letter to the community regarding Friday’s football game between the two undefeated schools.
MCPS, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Police Department, has moved the game to 4:30pm on Friday “out of an abundance of caution for everyone’s safety and for the smooth operation of the entire event.”
