Montgomery Village

As we reported back in October, Lidl at 19225 Montgomery Village Ave in Montgomery Village will be holding it’s grand opening on February 9th. Lidl has announced that a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 7:40am that morning and the store will open to the public at 8am.

ARLINGTON, VA – Lidl US, ranked a top 3 U.S. grocer by USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, announced today that it will host a grand opening event on Wednesday, February 9, to celebrate its newest store in Montgomery Village, Maryland. The store, located at 19225 Montgomery Village Ave, will hold a ribbon cutting celebration with local leaders at 7:40 a.m. The store, which will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Sunday, will offer shoppers incredible daily savings on Lidl’s highly-awarded range of products.


Aspen Hill

Patient First opened its Aspen Hill location last month in the Aspen Manor shopping center on Georgia Avenue, next to Outback Steakhouse. The location was even the subject of local television commercials advertising the opening. Though the commercials still air and say the urgent and primary care facility will be “opening soon,” it has already opened.

Patient Care expanded its services in Maryland with the opening of a new medical center Aspen Hill, MD, on Thursday, December 2, 2021. The new center, located at 13671 Georgia Ave, Aspen Hill, MD 20906-5214, provides area residents with walk-in, non-appointment access to urgent and primary medical care services 365 days a year, including all holidays.


Derwood

Golden Bakery, a Persian and middle eastern bread factory and bakery, will hold its grand opening at 15841 Redland Road in Derwood on February 6th from 2pm-5pm.

The bakery specializes in Persian breads, and touts its experience in making “the finest Taftoon and Sangak bread.” In addition to the bread factory and bakery, Golden Bakery plans to also have a middle eastern grocery section.


Restaurant

This past summer we let you know that El Mercat Bar De Tapas would be taking over the spot that was most recently home to Gumbo Ya Ya, at 101 Gibbs Street Unit C in Rockville Town Square.

The restaurant held a ticketed preview dinner event this weekend, and will be opening for dinner service to the public tomorrow (Monday, January 23) starting at 5pm, with lunch and brunch arriving in the coming weeks.


Bethesda

BAR IVY is slated for downtown Bethesda. Blagden Hospitality Group (BHG) has signed a lease for the ground floor retail location at Carr’s newly delivered, landmark development, The Wilson & The Elm, a three-tower mixed use development on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Elm Street. The building already has prominent office customers at The Wilson, such as Fox 5, Walker & Dunlop, and ProShares, as well as a growing residential community at The Elm.

Gaithersburg

Earlier this week we let you know that construction started at Lapu Lapu, the sister restaurant of popular Rockville/North Bethesda/Kensington restaurant Kuya Ja’s Lechon Belly.

The restaurant recently announced a pop-up that’ll allow you to sample the breakfast sandwiches that’ll be served at the upcoming restaurant. It will take place this Sunday, January 23 from 11am until 3pm at Kuya Ja’s (5268-H Nicholson Lane) for takeout or delivery, as dine-in is not currently being offered.


Montgomery Village

Moe’s Southwest Grill at 19222 Montgomery Village Ave in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center will hold it’s grand opening today, February 3, at 11:30am.

Moe’s is taking over the former space occupied by the MV Animal Hospital. The hospital has moved right down the road to 19243 Watkins Mill Rd.


Downtown Silver Spring

Updated to reflect opening timeframe

Last April we let you know that IHOP’s new concept, Flip’d by IHOP, would be taking over the old Asian Bistro Cafe location at 8537 Georgia Avenue between Panera and Red Lobster, according to the PetersonCos website.


Gaithersburg

MiyaJi Kebab & Rumali Rolls will be taking over 674 Quince Orchard Road, the location that was home to Pho Eatery in Gaithersburg’s Quince Orchard Plaza, according to Federal Realty’s tenant roster for Quince Orchard Plaza.

Pho Eatery and neighboring restaurant Urban Crawfish closed permanently in September of 2021. Both restaurants opened in 2016.


Olney

F45 Training, an Australian franchisor and operator of fitness centers based in Austin, Texas, is opening its third Montgomery County location in Olney (current locations exist in Bethesda and Silver Spring, though Google lists Bethesda as temporarily closed). The fitness center will open in the 3,200 sf location that was previously home to Pet Valu in Olney’s Fair Hill Shopping Center (previously Olney Town Center) at 18100 Town Center Drive, Unit 8115.

Pet Valu announced that it would close all of its stores in late 2020, which included 6 Montgomery County locations (Clarksburg, Damascus, Gaithersburg, Olney, Potomac, and Rockville) affecting 43 local employees. The storefront has been vacant ever since, but the klnb commercial real estate website now lists F45 as the new tenant.
