It has been over two years since we let you know that True Food Kitchen would be taking the place of Joe’s Crab Shack in Rio.
Originally slated for a late 2020 opening, we spoke with a team member back in March who told us the restaurant would not open until 2022. Earlier today, Rio doubled down on the timeframe as they advertised a Spring 2022’arrival for the restaurant.

Kusshi ko, a restaurant by the folks who have brought you Kusshi Sushi (Pike & Rose), Hanaro (Bethesda), and Poke Dojo (Bethesda Row), will be moving into the location formerly occupied by Gusto in Downtown Silver Spring (8512 Fenton Street).
For now, management tells us they know that sushi will be part of what the restaurant offers, but they’re looking into doing more than just sushi with the space. “We know it‘ll be more quick service style,” owner Wesley Yao tells us.
Orangetheory Fitness at Congressional Plaza Opens Tomorrow
Orangetheory Fitness at 1601 Rockville Pike, #210A in Rockville will open tomorrow, September 22nd. The fitness studio is located next to Barnes & Noble and The Container Store. It will be the first independent fitness studio to open at Congressional Plaza’s FITRow, a multi-studio fitness and wellness destination housed under one roof.
Latest Update on Lidl in Montgomery Village
The Lidl at 19241 Montgomery Village Ave. in Montgomery Village has begun hiring. Positions are now listed on Indeed.com and hiring signage has been placed in from of the building.
Zinnia has announced on their social media accounts that they will be holding their grand opening on October 1. According to their website, “at Zinnia, patrons can get excited for a beer and wine garden, cafè, tavern, and fine dining restaurant,” and that guests can enjoy options from a beer truck and an outdoor bar.
The restaurant will also feature an all day cafè that is “expected to serve sandwiches, pastries, coffee, and more” and that guests should be on the lookout for some twists on some of Mrs. K’s favorites dishes.
Grill Kabob in Research Row Now Open
Grill Kabob at 1409 Research Blvd in Rockville opened this past week.
Call Your Mother, the award-winning Jew-ish deli, at Pike & Rose will open TOMORROW (Monday, September 20th). Located at 11807 Grand Park Ave. in North Bethesda, MD, the bagel shop and deli will feature homemade, signature bagels, creative sandwiches, coffee, and nostalgic pastries.

The Sweet Lemon Gift Shop is moving into the Poolesville Village Center (19710-C Fisher Ave.), between Subway and the Montgomery County liquor store.
Construction has started at the upcoming Qdoba location in the newly rebranded Rock Grove Center on the corner of 355 and Shady Grove Road.
The fast-casual chain will be opening its newest location at 16260 Frederick Road in the location that was formerly home to Jerry’s Subs and Pizza.
