Downtown Crown

Things have been relatively quiet on the retail side of the Downtown Crown neighborhood in Gaithersburg recently, but we do have two updates for you.

Le’Mer Salon & Spa at 125 Ellington Blvd recently closed permanently and has been cleared out. There is currently no word on what might take its place.

Restaurant

Champions Sports Bar, owned by Jennifer Garcia and local radio personality Yernandy Rijo, will open in Silver Spring this Friday, 10/23 at 6pm. The bar is located at 9433 Georgia Avenue, in the former home of Action House Vape & Hookah, in the same strip at La Casa Del Mofongo.

The bar/restaurant offers more than 10 TVs to enjoy all sports available. The menu consists of traditional “bar food” with a Latin twist. Some of the items included are:

Bethesda

Ssong’s Hotdogs, a popular South Korean chain, is opening what was the second announced U.S. location in the Montgomery Mall food court (it’ll now be the third to open).

The original plan was to open this November, which is still the date listed on the Ssong’s website, but we’re told there have been delays with construction so things are pushed back a bit.

Rockville

Athleta, a performance and lifestyle apparel company for active women and girls, will join the existing vibrant shopping and dining destinations at Congressional Plaza in the heart of Rockville, Maryland.

The neighborhood offers a unique collection of boutique shops, national retailers, luxury services, restaurants, and FITRow, a new-to-market concept featuring independent boutique fitness studios located under one roof. The first two studios – CorePower Yoga and Orangetheory Fitness – will open in 2021. Athleta’s 5,000-square-foot space will be located near The Fresh Market.
