MoCo Police

On December 17, Blanca Kling, who passed away in January 2021, was awarded the Roscoe R. Nix Distinguished Community Leadership Award for serving Montgomery County residents for four decades.

Blanca began working as a Victim Assistant in Wheaton for Montgomery County Police in 1980. In 2005 she transitioned to the Public Information Division with the goal of helping to strengthen communications between the police department and the Hispanic community.


Rockville

Christmas Eve, typically a night for Santa to reward good little boys and girls with toys. Unfortunately, for one Rockville man, breaking in and stealing pleasure toys from an adults only boutique, not one but twice, has landed him right at the top of RCPD’s naughty list.

At 4:33 a.m. on December 18, 2021, Rockville City Police responded to a call for a burglary at 765 Rockville Pike, the Knock First Adult Store and Couples Boutique. Officers discovered a large rock was used to smash out the glass on the front door. The suspect stole numerous adult toys and erotic products and fled in an unknown direction.


Takoma Park

Per Takoma Park Police:

One of the suspects was wearing a light blue Champion winter coat and the other two were wearing all black. All three suspects were wearing face masks. Items of evidentiary value were seized by police. Possible suspect vehicle is a black BMW with paper tags that fled southbound on New Hampshire Avenue.


MoCo Police

Gaithersburg, MD – On April 15, 2021, human skeletal remains were recovered near Route 29 and New Hampshire Avenue off of the highway in a small, wooded area.  The remains were collected and sent for DNA analysis.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Cold Case, Missing Persons Section received notification that the remains had been positively identified as Brenda Lee Hopkins, who was reported missing in August of 2018.


Bethesda

Detectives from the MCPD Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section have arrested and charged two juveniles and an 18-year-old with first degree murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery, following the death of a 33-year-old in Bethesda

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the December 9 armed robbery that occurred in the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.


MoCo Police

Today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, before the honorable Judge Harry Storm, defendant Kevin McGuigan, 24, of Rockville, MD, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the death of his mother, Jaclyn McGuigan.

He faces a maximum of life in prison and will be sentenced at a hearing scheduled for January 3rd at 8:30 a.m.

Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Police responded to a potential threat at Gaithersburg High School this morning at 11:55am.

According to Gaithersburg Police, two unknown individuals were reportedly observed entering the high school through a secured door and were believed to have been possibly armed. After an investigation the threat was determined to be unfounded.
