An overturned tractor-trailer caused several lanes to be closed on the outer loop of 495 between Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Rd around 1am Sunday morning.
According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer, MCFRS HazMat assisted in cleaning up the diesel fuel that leaked from the truck’s tanks.
There was a collision and vehicle fire this afternoon on Darnestown Rd And Tschiffley Square Rd in North Potomac.
One person was transported to the hospital with priority 2 trauma.

Authorities say a United States Park Police officer was involved in a shooting that occurred on the 200 block of Missouri Avenue in NW D.C. that led to a chase into Silver Spring early this morning.
According to Park Police, the suspect was chased approximately 10 minutes into Silver Spring where the driver crashed into several cars on Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road before being apprehended and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Rockville City Police Department has released a traffic statement letting residents know to prepare for an event which could cause possibly widespread traffic delays/backups during the evening rush hour in the area of Mannakee St. & Rt. 355 today (10/26/21) between the hours of 4-7pm.
Per Rockville Police: “Motorists should seek alternate routes to avoid potential traffic jams.”
10:45am Update:
Westbound Father Hurley is closed at the 270 exit due to a traffic incident according to MCPD. Drivers advised to seek alternate routes and significant delays are expected.
Per Metro:
As we continue to address the needs of our customers impacted by current service delays, Metro appreciate the public’s understanding of the need to put safety first.
Metro has taken all 748 of its 7000-series railcars out of service pending further inspections, and they will not return to service until they are deemed safe. The 7000-series trains make up approximately 60 percent of Metro’s railcar fleet. Without these railcars, Metro is able to operate significantly fewer trains than normal. Service on all lines will operate every 30 minutes today, Monday, October 18. All trains will operate as six-car trains.
Reduced Metrorail service is expected to continue until at least Sunday, October 24, as the investigation into the October 12 derailment continues. Beginning tomorrow, trains will operate every 15 minutes on the Red Line and will continue to operate every 30 minutes on all other lines. Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Federal Center SW only.
Expect reduced Metrorail service tomorrow, Monday, October 18: Trains on all lines to operate about every 30 minutes
