MCPS Community Message: Vaccinations Available for Eligible 5-to-11-Year-Old Children

Per MCPS:

November 5, 2021

Dear MCPS Community,

Montgomery County Public Schools, Holy Cross Hospital and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) are partnering to hold COVID-19 vaccination clinics for eligible 5-to-11-year-old students. These clinics will begin Saturday, Nov. 6 at six school-based locations. MCPS, Holy Cross Hospital and DHHS will host vaccination clinics at the following schools:
(COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Sites).

There will be multiple locations open on both weekdays and weekends. These locations will change weekly to reach as many families as possible. MCPS buses will be available at area elementary schools to take families to the clinic locations. Learn more here. The vaccines and transportation are free for MCPS students and families.

Register your child here. Initially, all clinics will require an appointment as there is a set amount of vaccine available for each vaccination site. Parents/guardians may also contact their child’s pediatrician to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Two-thirds of the doses for children 5 to 11 will be provided by pharmacies, pediatricians and other healthcare providers, and about one-third will be provided by the health department. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the numerous sources that are providing vaccinations.

The COVID-19 vaccination is a choice available to families and is not currently mandatory for students to attend school, but is strongly encouraged for children who are 5- to 11-years-old.

COVID-19 pediatric vaccinations are just one strategy MCPS is using that will help keep students learning in school, five days a week, and keep our community safe.
