Germantown Man Arrested for Firearm Related Charges

For Immediate Release: Monday, March 28, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police- 5th District Community Action Team (DCAT) have arrested and charged 28-year-old Brasean Decarlos Wellington, of Germantown, for possessing a firearm.

On Friday, March 25, 2022, at approximately 3:35 p.m., officers were patrolling the Milestone Shopping Center when they observed a black 2009 BMW with an equipment safety violation and conducted a traffic stop. Officers approached the vehicle and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun that was hidden in a compartment behind the glovebox. Officers determined that the gun was stolen from Prince William County, Virginia. Wellington is prohibited from carrying a firearm.

Wellington was arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with multiple firearm related charges.
