Montgomery County Planning Board Department announce September 2023 Calendar of Events

The Montgomery County Planning Board and Montgomery County Planning Department have announced their September 2023 calendar of events and meetings. The public can participate in Planning Board meetings by testifying in-persontestifying virtually, over the phone, or by sending in written comments to the Planning Board. Information about submitting written testimony and testifying live at Planning Board meetings can be found below. Contact us for accessibility accommodations.

The public may attend Planning Board meetings in-person, watch them live or on-demand, or listen over the phone. View individual agendas, which are usually made public 10 days prior to the start of a meeting. Consult the Development Review Committee (DRC) and Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) websites for their agenda information. For more details, review the list of events below and visit www.montgomeryplanning.org. These events are subject to change.

September Calendar of Events:

September 6 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in-person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters with a virtual option available upon request. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing.

September 7 – The Planning Board will hold its weekly meeting in-person and online.

September 12 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet in-person and virtually. The community is invited to attend the meeting in-person or online by watching the DRC live video stream or viewing on-demand. The DRC is an inter-agency task force comprised of representatives from Montgomery Planning, the State Highway Administration, the county departments of Permitting Services, Environmental Protection, and Public Works and Transportation, and utilities such as WSSC and PEPCO. At these regularly scheduled meetings twice a month, DRC members discuss development applications with the applicants.

September 13 – The Montgomery County Development Review Process Workgroup will meet for a public work session from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters. Watch the meeting live or on demand. The workgroup was formed through a partnership with the Montgomery County Planning Department, the Montgomery County Executive, and Montgomery County state legislators to examine the county’s process for reviewing and approving development projects, with a special focus on ensuring the county remains economically competitive. These meetings are not a part of the regularly scheduled Development Review Committee meetings.

September 14 – The Planning Board will hold its weekly meeting in-person and online.

September 14 – The Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on the Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Amendment Public Hearing Draft at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters in the 2nd floor Auditorium as well as virtually through the Planning Board’s website. The public hearing will also be livestreamed at the City of Takoma Park’s Community Center (7500 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, MD 20912) for the public to watch and provide testimony[VE1] [SC2] [LG3] . September 20 – The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will hold its monthly Full Commission meeting. This Full Commission meeting will be livestreamed and available on-demand on the Montgomery County Planning Board’s website. [VE4] [SC5] [LG6] [PC7]

September 28 – The Planning Board will hold its weekly meeting in-person and online.

 

How to participate in Planning Board meetings

There are many ways to participate in Planning Board meetings:

  • Watch the Planning Board meeting live online and on demand.
  • Listen live over the phone to the Planning Board meeting by calling: 866-774-0898 Password: 24252020
  • Sign up to testify via Microsoft Teams, over the phone, or in person during the Planning Board meeting. To testify, fill out the Sign Up to Testify form by 12 noon on the day before the Planning Board meeting.
  • On the afternoon before the meeting, you will receive an email with a phone number to call during a designated time to provide your testimony for a specific agenda item. Submitting this form online by the deadline is the only way to testify on meeting items.
  • If you have questions, send an email to [email protected] or leave a message at 301-495-4605, and a staff member in the Planning Board Chair’s office will contact you.
  • Email your written testimony with comments on specific Planning Board agenda items to [email protected] by 12 noon on the day before the Planning Board meeting. Items received after this date and time will not be included in the record.
  • For ADA accommodations or to request materials in alternate formats, consult the Montgomery Planning Accessibility webpage or contact the Montgomery Planning ADA Coordinator at 301-495-1324.
