Officers Identified in Fatal Police Pursuit

Per the Maryland Attorney General’s Office: “The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has identified the Montgomery County Police
Department officers involved in the fatal crash following an attempted traffic stop and police pursuit on December 13, 2023.

The officers are identified as Sergeant Jeffrey Brewer, a 24-year veteran; Police Officer Aaron Bachofsky, a 16-year veteran; Police Officer Andrew Synan, a 9-year veteran; Police Officer
Kevin Martinez, a 4-year veteran; Police Officer Michael Chatlin, a 4-year veteran; and Police Officer Antonio Ruiz, a 2-year veteran. All the officers are assigned to the Patrol Services
Bureau.

The identity of the decedent, who is a juvenile, is being withheld in accordance with juvenile privacy laws while investigators continue to review evidence.
The Independent Investigations Division, with the assistance of the Maryland State Police Crash Team, continues to investigate the circumstances of the fatal pursuit. To read the original news
