Report States that “Signs Point to Amazon Fresh Reboot” in White Oak

A BizJournals report from earlier this month states that “signs point to an Amazon Fresh reboot” in White Oak. This comes after Amazon Fresh appeared to pull out of a planned 41,000 SF market in White Oak Town Center after it took the place of a planned Trader Joe’s location in 2022. Amazon Fresh also removed signage from a nearly completed Shady Grove Rd. location last year as it paused or cancelled dozens of stores across the country, many of which were also already built.

Per the report, “Falls Church-based construction company L.F. Jennings is seeking subcontractors to help it build a 38,000-square-foot grocery store at an undisclosed location in Silver Spring. Prospective firms are required to sign a nondisclosure agreement before getting access to bid documents.” White Oak technically has a Silver Spring address, to eliminate any possible confusion. Amazon and White Oak Town Center representatives did not comment on the specific store. Amazon Fresh currently has two locations in Montgomery County, both in Chevy Chase, at 8531 Chevy Chase Lake Terrace and 5463 Wisconsin Ave.

Seven additional tenants have signed on for the upcoming shopping center. The previously reported European Wax Center, Jersey Mike’s, Inspire Nail Bar, Starbucks, and Oak Barrel & Vine (a county-owned and operated liquor store that features tasting rooms and beer on tap.) are all still slated to open in the upcoming development. They will be joined by breakfast/brunch restaurant First Watch, and the Drake-backed Dave’s Hot Chicken. White Oak Town Center also has plans to include a cell phone store, a grocery store annchor, a junior anchor and more. We’ll keep you updated on the new tenants as they’re announced.
