The personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s Most & Least Ethnically Diverse Cities, to celebrate differences and highlight the places with the richest cultural mixes. Four areas in Montgomery County, Maryland are in the top ten.

To identify the most ethnically diverse places in America, WalletHub compared more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities across three key metrics that measure diversity based on residents’ ethnicity and race, language and birthplace. Though not all technically cities, that is the term used in the report for the areas included.

Gaithersburg is ranked first overall, 5th in the “ethnoracial diversity” category, 3rd in the “linguistic diversity” category, and 83rd in the “birthplace diversity” category.

Germantown is ranked third overall, 1st in the “ethnoracial diversity” category, 5th in the “linguistic diversity” category, and 96th in the “birthplace diversity” category.

Silver Spring is ranked fourth overall, 11th in the “ethnoracial diversity” category, 17th in the “linguistic diversity” category, and 26th in the “birthplace diversity” category.

Rockville is ranked eighth overall, 26th in the “ethnoracial diversity” category, 9th in the “linguistic diversity” category, and 36th in the “birthplace diversity” category.
