Playa Bowls Opens Fifth Montgomery County Location

Playa Bowls has opened its fifth Montgomery County location at 8525 Chevy Chase Lake Terrace in  the Chevy Chase Lake development. Playa Bowls Chevy Chase is currently in its soft opening phase, open from 8am until 8pm from Sunday, February 25th until Friday, March 1st and from 10am until 8pm on Saturday, March 2.

Playa Bowls is located adjacent to Connecticut Avenue and the planned Purple Line transit system, which will provide an east-west connection between Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and is part of the Chevy Chase Lake development in Chevy Chase, which is designed to be a walkable, mixed-use community with a town center and access to the Capital Crescent Trail.

Playa Bowls was founded by surfers Abby Taylor & Rob Giuliani, and “born out of the desire to recreate the delicious, refreshing, healthy versions of acai and pitaya bowls the pair encountered on various surf trips to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, California, and Hawaii.” Their Chevy Chase Lake location will cover 1,748 square feet and begin serving up bowls to customers in fall 2022. Playa Bowls, which offers Açaí Bowls, Pitaya, Coconut Bowls, smoothies, and more, opened its first store almost 7 years ago in the Jersey Shore and has since expanded to almost 100 locations.

The company has opened multiple locations in the DC area in recent years. In Montgomery County, they have opened in Potomac, MD (Cabin John Village), Kensington (Knowles Station), Olney (Fair Hill), and most recently in Gaithersburg (known as Playa Bowls Darnestown).
