Heidi Gardner Will No Longer Be Performing at Montgomery College Later This Month; Fellow SNL Cast Member James Austin Johnson Named As Replacement


Saturday Night Live’s Heidi Gardner will no longer be performing at the Robert E. Parilla Performing Arts Center at Montgomery College in Rockville on Friday, March 22 due to changes with the schedule of a project she’s working on, according to a recent report by mymcmedia. Instead, she will be replaced by fellow cast member James Austin Johnson, known for his impression of former president Donald Trump. Tickets for the event are $25 ($23 for seniors, and $5 for students w/ ID) and can be purchased at www.montgomerycollege.edu/pac.

Per Montgomery College, James Austin Johnson is a comedian originally from Nashville and a cast member on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. The New York Times has called him “one of SNL’s most versatile celebrity impressionists.” His spot-on impression of Trump paired with his improvisational ramblings about Weird Al, Julia Louis Dreyfus, and Scooby Doohave garnered over 5 million views, with profiles on James inVanity Fair, Slate, Mashable and VICE to name a few. As an actor, James’ TV/Film credits include FUTURE MAN, BASKETS, ROBBIE, BETTER CALL SAUL, THE LAST TYCOON and the Coen Brothers’ feature HAIL, CAESAR!. As a stand up, James has performed on the Vice series FLOPHOUSE, as well as RIOT LA, and JUST FOR LAUGHS as a New Face. He currently voices the Grinch on Wondery’s ‘TIS THE GRINCH HOLIDAY TALK SHOW’.

He will be joined by Amy Silverberg and Alice Wetterlund. Silverberg is a writer and comedian based in Los Angeles. Her debut novel “First Time, Long Time” is forthcoming from Grand Central Publishing in 2024. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Southern California, where she teaches. Wetterlund is a stand-up comedian and actor originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She performs regularly mostly in LA at independent shows new window as well as San Francisco’s Punchline, and LA’s Largo and The Hollywood Improv, festivals and clubs throughout the continent.
