Spring break for Montgomery County Public Schools’ (MCPS) students is April 11 to 18. If your family is staying in town, Montgomery Parks has come up with a list of activities to keep the kids engaged and entertained.

The State of Maryland has awarded the Olney Boys & Girls Club with a $1 million grant to create a stadium with new dugouts, seating, lights, as well as additional field improvements, and a $1.75 million grant to build a multi–sport training facility, including a Med–Star–led rehab facility and courts and fields for soccer, basketball, baseball, football, lacrosse, softball, field hockey, wrestling, and a long–desired volleyball program.
The facility will feature indoor turf training fields and indoor batting cages. The new stadium will be the future home to the Cropdusters, a summer collegiate baseball team made up of talented players from around the country. It will be located at OGBC Park and specifics are being worked on now. Cropduster games will offer the community a family–friendly activity featuring autograph booths, giveaways, and opportunities for kids to be a part of the game. The team will compete in the Cal Ripken league beginning summer 2022, and games will be played at the Olney Boys & Girls Club field.
The 2022 street sweeping schedule for residential sweeping routes has been released. This annual program is designed to ensure clean and environmentally friendly neighborhood streets. Residential sweeping begins every spring and typically ends in early July.
The 2022 Residential Sweeping Program started on April 6. In 2021, crews swept over 4,100 miles of roads in residential neighborhoods and removed over 1,200 tons of debris from our streets.
Forbes has released its 36th annual ranking of the world’s richest people with the 2022 ‘World’s Billionaire List.’
2,668 people made it on the list, 87 fewer than a year ago. They’re worth a collective $12.7 trillion—$400 billion less than in 2021.

Eater has released a list of ‘7 Exciting New Pizza Places to Try Around D.C.’ and the top two spots have got to two new Montgomery County restaurants.
Coming in at #2 is the recently opened Underground Pizza, which opened its first Montgomery County location in February after serving the area via pop-ups since 2020. Underground Pizza is located at 8235 Georgia Ave in Silver Spring. in the space that was formerly home to Olazzo.
A man in his 20s fell approximately 25 feet down an escalator near the Dave and Buster’s entrance at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg around 11:05pm Saturday night, leaving him briefly unconscious.
Emergency services were called and medics transported him to a trauma center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. As of now, there is no word on how the fall occurred.
Alex Baby and Toys, a new concept from FYE, will be coming soon to Montgomery Mall. It will be located downstairs next to Old Navy. Though the FYE website lists two locations at Montgomery Mall (doesn’t specify that the locations are not yet open), we are told there will only be one in the mall.
Signage is up on the exterior of the upcoming toy/baby product store, but construction remains ongoing inside. As of now, there aren’t many details as to what the store will provide, but the name is pretty telling.
Grog Beer and Wine is now open 513 Quince Orchard Rd in the Firstfield shopping center in Gaithersburg. The beer and wine is now occupying the location that was formerly home to SuperCuts.
Grog closed its location at 524 N. Frederick Ave, between AT&T and Ashley Furniture Homestore, in the Gaithersburg Square shopping center late last year and announced the move with signage posted at the old location.

The Burger King located at 16004 Shady Grove Rd has reopened after being closed for renovations since the start of 2021. Along with Burger King comes Ripieno’s of Ocean City and Jo Jo’s Express, which has a location in Salisbury. All three restaurants have separate menus and cashiers and the setup of the restaurant is similar to that off a food hall/food court with a common dining area.
Ripieno’s features its famous 28” wood-fire pizza, calzones, and subs. JoJo’s Express features “American style” dishes like fried chicken, steak, and fried seafood. The Burger King has the standard Burger King menu and is available from the drive-thru (the other two restaurants are not available via drive-thru). All three restaurants also share a salad bar. Updated at 12:30am to reflect that Dwayne Haskins, Jr. was hit by a dump truck, rather than a car as was initially reported by Adam Schefter.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Bullis alumnus Dwayne Haskins, Jr. died this morning after getting hit by a vehicle (multiple reports are now stating it was a dump truck) in South Florida, per Haskins’ agent Cedric Saunders in. He would have turned 25 in May.
