North Bethesda

915 Meeting Street will be a 16-story, state-of-the-art, LEED Gold-targeted building featuring 9,600 square feet of ground floor retail, approximately 25,000-square-foot flexible floor plates and 700 dedicated parking spaces. The building, designed by Gensler, will incorporate a vibrant architectural design that includes numerous amenities, such as a rooftop conference center with collaborative common areas, WiredScore-targeted connectivity, a fitness center, and resource-efficient sustainable and wellness features.

Located in the Pike & Rose neighborhood of North Bethesda, 915 Meeting Street will sit within the transit-oriented, LEED Gold-certified neighborhood of Pike & Rose and its more than 400,000 square feet of retail, services, dining, and entertainment offerings. The new construction comes following the success of Pike & Rose’s 300,000 square feet of existing office product, which includes tenants such as Bank of America, JLL, Industrious, OneDigital and Federal Realty’s corporate headquarters.


Gaithersburg

Construction has started on a 244 unit multi-family building with amenity space and internal courtyards at 333 Ellington Blvd in Downtown Crown. This will also include the expansion of the existing parking garage on Copley Place.

The Planning Commission approved the Final Site Plan application SP-8774-2021 on June 16, 2021 and construction began a few weeks back. The Property is comprised of 76,894 sq. ft. With the approval of the family, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the name of the second deputy found deceased in St. Augustine, FL, on Saturday, January 30th. Deputy Abigail Bieber, a Montgomery County native who patrolled the northwest portion of Hillsborough County, Florida, was fatally shot on January 29, 2022. The death of Bieber was the result of a suspected murder-suicide, according to authorities. They said Detective Daniel Leyden, a member of the HCSO criminal investigations division, allegedly killed Bieber and then took his own life.


Bethesda

Bethesda favorite Raku will open Rakugaki at the Shops at Wildwood in the Fall of 2022. The 2,188-square-foot restaurant will be located at 10223 Georgetown Road near Sarah’s Handmade Ice Cream. Raku’s Bethesda and Cathedral Heights locations as well as Rakuya at Dupont Circle remain open.

Gaithersburg

King Auto Dealership is requesting approval to construct a new 15,725 square foot dealership building, 19,589 square foot expansion of the existing service center and site improvements. The new dealership building and service center building expansion will be located to the south of the Property.

The Subject Property is located at 953 North Frederick Avenue. The Property is 368,868 square feet and contains 94,774 square feet of dealership and service center buildings. The Property is accessible from North Frederick Avenue, Watkins Mill Road and Russell Avenue.


Business

New solar PV system will generate 20% of the office building’s electricity needs each year

Yesterday, The Tower Companies and Prospect Solar, LLC announced that The Tower Building, located at 1101 Wootton Parkway in Rockville, flipped the switch on Tower’s largest on-site solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The project is also the largest solar PV Canopy installation in the City of Rockville and will contribute to Maryland’s long-term goal of net-zero GHG emissions by 2045.


Gaithersburg

Rio Lakefront is taking its proposal for a new sign package and design to the City of Gaithersburg’s Planning Commission tonight. Peterson Cos. is asking for language that does not allow for the sign to be within 10 feet of I-270 to be removed to allow the sign to be more visible.

Rockville

A Rockville Senior Center Employee and Rockville Police officer were able to save a woman who suffered from a fall and was in distress for four days, conscious, but unable to move on the floor of her home. The Rockville Police Department shared the story on social media. It can be seen below:

“Last week Mr. Gerry Jones, a Rockville Senior Center employee, decided to go check on a senior citizen whom he had not seen or heard from in a few days. He saw her car in the driveway, the mail piling up and no one answered his knocks on the door.


Beyond MoCo

Per Howard County:

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – County Executive Calvin Ball today signed an Executive Order immediately lifting the mask mandate in Howard County. Howard County public buildings and facilities, and public transit, including the RTA, will still require masks. Businesses and organizations may still require masking at their own discretion.
