The Washington Commanders beat the Tennessee Titans 42-19 on Sunday, getting back on track after a three game losing streak. The Commanders are now 8-5 and would be in the playoffs if they were to start today. Next week is their bye with the New Orleans up next after that. The Potomac Horse Center (PHC) closed permanently in July, after 31 years leasing the location from Montgomery Parks (14211 Quince Orchard Rd in North Potomac). In a statement in May, Montgomery Parks wrote that the PHC, a private business, notified Montgomery Parks of its intent to end its lease. Now, Montgomery Parks is preparing the site for the future which will include the demolition of buildings on site that are beyond repair.
After a 7-2 start, the Washington Commanders have lost three straight heading into today’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Yesterday, they made some major moves, releasing 2023 1st round draft pick Emmanuel Forbes Jr., and today they made another move that shows what the current regime thinks of Ron Rivera’s draft picks.
Rachel Carson Elementary School (RCES) hosted its first Turkey Trot to boost student attendance and mitigate chronic absenteeism on the day before Thanksgiving break. The school also utilized the event as an opportunity to collect canned food for the community of Hope at Seneca Creek Church. A video of the event can be seen below.
California Tortilla has closed one of its Gaithersburg locations permanently. According to a sign on the door at 255 Spectrum Ave at the Spectrum Town Center, the restaurant closed its doors on Wednesday, November 27th.
Rockville Town Square’s annual tree lighting ceremony ‘Tree Lighting at the Square’ will be held from 6pm-9pm on Friday, December 6 in Town Square, 200 E. Middle Lane.
Quince Orchard High School defeated Broadneck High School 48-13 to advance to the 4A Maryland State Championship Game where they will take on Dr. Henry J. Wise in the State Championship. Wise, who beat Broadneck in the State Championship game last year 21-0, defeated C.H. Flowers High School 35-0 to advance. Coincidentally, Quince Orchard’s last State Championship in 2022 came with a 32-7 win against C.H. Flowers. Quince Orchard defeated Wise 31-13 in 2021 to win the State Championship. The two teams will meet Friday night at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
