There are a lot of changes coming to Burtonsville, starting with the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center. A new grocery store, fitness center restaurants, and plenty of retail are coming to the upgraded shopping center, but there’s plenty going on elsewhere too. Below we highlight things that are new to Burtonsville and a whole bunch that’s coming soon:
Bethesda fine-dining staple Duck Duck Goose was replaced by new concept Good Ducking Burger at 7929 Norfolk Ave. in September. The restaurant is now closed, following the expiration of the lease at the location, according to owner/operator Ashish Alfred.
Rockville’s King Farm neighborhood is seeing some revitalization with new tenants signing on to join mainstays like Safeway, Nagoya Sushi, Fontina Grille, and Botanero. Below you’ll see a list of recently opened and coming soon tenants to the shopping center (as of January 2024):
Chipotle has signed on as a tenant at the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center. The fast food restaurant will be joining the longstanding Burger King and the coming soon Moby Dick and Eggspectation at the shopping center.
Gaithersburg-based Adventist HealthCare Imaging received a $50,000 grant from the Brem Foundation to help defeat breast cancer.
Eggspectation, a restaurant that serves “elevated American cuisine with a lengthy all-day breakfast menu alongside hearty lunch and dinner fare”, is returning to Montgomery County.
The Eater DC “38 Essential Restaurants Around DC” list offers a selection of defining culinary destinations that showcase DC and its suburbs. Four restaurants in Maryland are currently on the list (last updated on January 11th) with two of them in Montgomery County:
Browns Pro-Bowl guard guard Joel Bitonio was hurt early in the team’s playoff game against the Houston Texans, with MoCo’s very own Michael Dunn coming in to take over. Dunn is Bethesda native and 2012 graduate of Walt Whitman High School.
Greco, a Boston area fast-casual restaurant that offers Greek cuisine, is opening this Monday in the space that was previously home to &Pizza at 1335 Wisconsin Ave, NW. Greco has been referred to by Boston Magazine as “one of the best fast-casual restaurants in Boston, period.”
