Beyond MoCo

On the evening of Sunday, March 22, 1992, a customer at Sugarloaf Mountain Market, located at 23800 Old Hundred Road in Comus, found the owner, 57-year-old James Essel, deceased inside the store– having been stabbed multiple times. Twenty-eight years later, in February 2020, the man whose DNA linked him to the murder was killed by Virginia Beach Police.

Germantown

The South Germantown Adventure Playground, located at 17920 Germantown Park Dr., will be closed for construction from summer 2025 through spring 2026. The new playground will feature inclusive, high-performance play areas, nature play, intergenerational activities, and opportunities for learning and social connection.

Today, Metro announced the selection of Hines, the global real estate investment manager, as the developer for the 13.9-acre North Bethesda joint development site adjacent to the rail station. The firm has been operating in the DC metro area for more than 40 years and owns and operates $90.1 billion of assets across property types.

Chevy Chase

During the premiere of his new FOX series, Secret Service, Gordon Ramsay visited the Parthenon in Chevy Chase. The restaurant, a local fixture since 1989, is owned by Montgomery County resident Pete Gouskos.
