First Watch is now open at 12255 Prosperity Dr. in the new White Oak Town Center development. The restaurant is located in a corner space with a large outdoor patio, across from the future grocery store anchor that remains to be determined (but appears to be Amazon Fresh again). For the grand opening, First Watch is offering customers who dine Monday, October 28 through Friday, November 1 a free cup of coffee with their meal.

Health

Earlier this month, the Maryland Department of Health introduced resources to help businesses comply with the updated Clean Indoor Air Act, which as of July 1, 2024, bans electronic smoking devices in all indoor public spaces and requires visible “no smoking or vaping” signage. (more…)

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s Commuter Services office received the Employer Services Outreach Team Achievement Award from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Commuter Connections program for the second consecutive year, honoring its efforts to promote alternative commuting options with employers and improve regional air quality. Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) and UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO have launched their third annual “Labor of Love” campaign, aiming to raise $70,000 through customer donations in November to support the March of Dimes in improving maternal and infant health across the U.S.

Restaurant

On Thursday, we reported that Hard Times Cafe at 1117 Nelson St in Rockville temporarily closed again due to ongoing plumbing issues in the Woodley Gardens shopping center. The restaurant had previously shut down during the week of October 14 for similar problems and originally reopened in July after a closure that started in September 2023 due to plumbing issues.
