MoCo

Montgomery County has reported six straight days of substantial transmission of COVID-19. After seven days, the county’s indoor mask mandate is automatically reinstated. There is a four day grace period from the seventh day of substantial transmission until the mandate begins. This means the mask mandate could return over the weekend or by next week.

The County is deemed an area of substantial transmission if it reaches 50 to 99.99 total new cases per 100,000 persons in the past seven days or 8 to 9.99 percent test positivity during the past seven days. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) classifies transmission values as low, moderate, substantial or high.


Rockville

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire at a home on the 5200blk of Yosemite Dr, near Nadine Dr, Monday morning.

Cheif Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer reports that the fire originated in the exterior of the home (carport), and was likely caused by misplaced fireplace ashes on the carport next to house/car.


Gaithersburg

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire at an abandoned/vacant building in the 8100 Blk of Morning View Dr in Gaithersburg on Sunday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and there were no injuries reported, according to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer.


MoCo Libraries

Per MCPL:

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is offering free online workshops and one-on-one sessions geared toward assisting job seekers and entrepreneurs throughout November. All workshops are offered virtually.


Cabin John

The Pretzel Bakery, which opened it’s DC location at 257 15th Street SE in DC back in 2012, is coming to Cabin John Village in Potomac.  The restaurant will be taking over the space formerly occupied by the Hair Cuttery at 7961 Tuckerman Ln.

According to their website, the Pretzel Bakery serves small batch, hand-rolled, Philadelphia-style soft pretzels fresh-out-of-the-oven all day.  In addition to traditional pretzels, they also sell pretzel dogs, pretzel calzones, stuffed pretzel “bombs”, and pretzel sliders.


Health

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced that, according to official CDC data, 99% of Marylanders 65 and older have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The state continues to lead the region—and ranks in the top 10 in the nation—in boosters for seniors.

The governor also announced that the state has already surpassed 50,000 vaccinations for 5- to 11-year-olds.
