'Multiple vehicles were struck by an airborne tire that bounced across the inner loop and outer loop of I-495 near the Linden Lane overpass, between Georgia Ave. and Connecticut Ave., (Kensington/Silver Spring) on Saturday evening, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue PIO Pete Piringer.
According to Piringer, The airborne tire and debris only caused property damage on the inner loop, but resulted in several injuries on the outer loop including two adults being transported to the hospital with priority 1 (life threatening) traumatic injuries after the tire struck multiple moving vehicles.
Some lanes were shutdown while MCFRS crews helped patients, but all lanes were open again later on Saturday night.
