Montgomery Parks recently shared the story of The Maryland Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation (MDACF) contacting Montgomery Parks’ urban forestry team with a unique request. They wanted to harvest flowers from high in the canopy of a single specific Chinese chestnut with the goal of extracting its pollen.

When I moved back to Northern Virginia after several years in New York, most of my old friends had moved away. I found myself rebuilding a social circle from scratch.

The online application process will close on July 10. However; applicants can attend a special On-Site Application Event from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, June 29, in Gaithersburg.
