Beyond MoCo

Two La Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang members were sentenced for conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering in connection with their participation in the Weedams Locos Salvatrucha (WLS) clique of the MS-13 gang. Jorge Isaac Argueta Chica, aka Timido and Enano, 23, of Gaithersburg was sentenced last week to six years in prison. Endy Arturo Gaitan Campos, aka Clandestino, 30, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was sentenced yesterday to 10 years in prison.

“I’m not famous, I’m a crossing guard.” If you live in the area, you may have seen him refereeing a youth basketball game or working as a crossing guard at a local school or event, but Adrian Dantley, 68, is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. He maintains his jobs because he just loves being a part of the community, someone involved with the youth who’s making life better for everyone. Now, he can add the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame to his résumé.

Last year we let you know that Sportrock Climbing Centers is coming to Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg, taking over part of the space that was previously occupied by Sport & Health (Dave & Buster’s now occupies the other part of the space). Sportrock has now set an opening date that coincides with its plan to open in late 2023 (preview video available below).

Updated with new date

Earlier this year we let you know that Planet Fitness announced it will be opening new locations at 6881 New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park and 2201 Randolph Rd. in Wheaton (Glenmont). The Glenmont location, which will be next to the existing Lidl, has announced its opening date.
