Education

Montgomery County Public Schools will be closed for both students and staff for two consecutive days as winter weather continues to impact the region. MCPS announced it is operating under CODE RED, meaning all schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27.

DMV

Our biggest winter storm of the season has dropped several inches of snow across the DMV (totals available here). MCPS students will not be in class on Monday as part of a previously scheduled end-of-term grading and planning day. While the student closure itself is not weather related, ongoing winter conditions are now raising questions about office operations on Monday and the status of schools beyond Monday. MoCo Government

Montgomery County activated the Department of Transportation’s Storm Operations Center at 9 pm Saturday, January 24, as a winter storm moved through the region, with crews beginning to plow primary roads at 4 am using more than 500 pieces of equipment and continuing operations throughout the day as snowfall is expected to taper off by early afternoon.
