The Washington Commanders have parted ways with offensive coordinator, Scott Turner. The news, first reported by NBC Sports JP Finlay, was expected following Washington finishing 20th in total offense. Turner has been with Washington, as offensive coordinator, since head coach Ron Rivera arrived in 2020. The offense averaged 330.3 yards per game with 126.1 yards on the ground (12th) and 204.2 yards through the air (21st). Ron Rivera released the following statement:

“I met with Coach Turner today and informed him that we will be moving in another direction going forward with the offensive coordinator position,” Rivera said in a statement. “Unfortunately, we did not live up to the expectations and standard that I expected to see from our offensive unit. I felt it was best for a fresh start at the coordinator position heading into next year. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Scott and thanked him for his three years of service to our organization. I wish Scott and his family all the best in the future.”

Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot, which is the third largest in Mega Millions history, has reached an estimated $1.1 billion, with a cash option $568.7 million. The only Mega Millions jackpots larger are the record of $1.537 billion, won in South Carolina on October 23, 2018, and $1.337 billion won in Illinois last July 29. According to the Maryland Lottery, two $1 million winning Mega Millions tickets were sold in the state over the past week. Back in October, lottery fever took over MoCo when Powerball’s jackpot reached a record-setting $2.04 billion and became the largest prize in lottery history.  Like Powerball, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to build after each drawing where no ticket is matched.

Per Mega Millions: For the fourth time in a little more than four years, the Mega Millions® jackpot has topped $1 billion! After no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 3, 20, 46, 59 and 63, plus the gold Mega Ball 13 – the jackpot for the next drawing on Tuesday, January 10, is currently estimated at $1.1 billion ($568.7 million cash). If won at that amount, it would be the third largest jackpot in the game’s history.
