The 24th Bethesda Row Arts Festival, one of the Washington, DC area’s premier outdoor fine arts festivals, will take place on Saturday, October 8th (11am-6pm) and Sunday, October 9th (10am-5pm) at Bethesda Row (directions available below).
Over 165 artists from around the country will showcase their work across four blocks — including painting, drawing, jewelry, photography, sculpture, fabric, glass, ceramics, wood, and many other mediums. The event is free to attend, and family-friendly.
Lindsey and Ronnie Curley’s son, Finn, was diagnosed with SELENON/SEPN1 Related Myopathy at 14 months old, on November 18, 2020. Due to how rare the genetic disorder is, the family has decided to launch a non-profit, Giving Strength Inc., to support research and treatment for SELENON related myopathy.
To kick-off the official launch of Giving Strength Inc, the newly elected Officers and Board Members will host the first ever Giving Strength Gala, with all proceeds from the event will go towards SELENON research and awareness.

The 29th annual celebration of Oktoberfest is on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from noon to 5 p.m. The festival takes place in & around the Arts Barn, Kentlands Mansion & Kentlands Village Green and along Main Street & Inspiration Lane. Admission & parking are free. Free wheelchair accessible shuttle service will run regularly during festival hours to and from satellite parking at 101 Orchard Ridge Drive, just off of Quince Orchard Road.
Experience a taste of Germany right in your own backyard with performances by the ever-popular Alte Kameraden German Band & Alt-Washingtonia Bavarian Dancers. Savor traditional festival food while enjoying selections from local microbreweries. Fall festivities include professional pumpkin carving & apple cider pressing demonstrations, fun inflatables, hands-on crafts, pumpkin & face painting, balloon twisting, bubbles, artists & crafters, family activities, & strolling entertainers. Enjoy three stages of live entertainment featuring a variety of bands, stroll through the business expo, and explore restaurants and retail establishments within the Kentlands. Please note some activities have a nominal fee. Note that no unauthorized alcoholic beverages, scooters, skateboards, roller blades, bicycles, or weapons, real or facsimile, are permitted at the Festival. Licensed & leashed pets are permitted in the Festival but not encouraged due to large crowds & noisy environments.

Montgomery Parks will begin selling tickets for Brookside Gardens’ annual Garden of Lights outdoor, walk-through winter light display on Oct. 11, 2022. Garden of Lights features glimmering one-of-a-kind displays adorning the flowerbeds and pathways throughout Brookside Gardens. New features this year include a winter wonderland scene with tall ice-like formations and falling snow in the Rose Garden and oversized colorful flower forms throughout the formal gardens. All new displays were handcrafted by Montgomery Parks staff.
New this year, pedestrians and cyclists can enter the seasonal light display at the pedestrian gate at 1800 Glenallan Ave. or via a half-mile path beginning at 2000 Shorefield Road near the Wheaton Regional Park Adventure Playground.
Crumbl Cookies is now open at 277 Kentlands Blvd, next to Panera, in the space that was formerly home to TD Ameritrade. Crumbl Cookies is a bakery with locations nationwide that sells chocolate chip and sugar cookies every day, but the rest of their offerings rotate. This week’s options include caramel apple, pumpkin roll, and blue mint. The first MoCo location opened at Federal Plaza in Rockville in 2020 and its Germantown location at 20650 Seneca Meadows Pkwy opened last month.

Park Police will be onsite for traffic control. Neighbors encouraged to walk to event.
“By reaching and exceeding our energy efficiency goals for state buildings several years ahead of schedule, we are lowering both costs and emissions,” said Governor Hogan. “In addition to leading by example, we continue to encourage families and businesses to look at ways to become more energy efficient.”
The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has ranked Maryland among the best states in the nation for efforts to reduce energy use through efficiency. Prominent in ACEEE’s report was Maryland state government’s lead-by-example initiatives, including HB 662, which was enacted in 2020 and incorporated into statute the governor’s 2019 Executive Order setting new energy savings goals for state-owned buildings and calling for 10% savings by 2029 over a fiscal year 2018 baseline.
