Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a crash involving a Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) cruiser in the area of Columbia Pike and Sandy Spring Rd in Burtonsville on Thursday night.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded much of the area to a Winter Storm Warning, effective until 7pm Friday.

Per the State of Maryland: “Governor Wes Moore today proclaimed Purple Friday in honor of the Baltimore Ravens incredible season.
Code Red – All Schools and Offices Closed, Friday, Jan. 19 When the school system is closed, all schools, administrative offices and community activities are canceled, including athletic practices and events.
Update: All lanes are open on Outer Loop I-495 at the American Legion Bridge from earlier traffic incident. Expect residual delays.
According to the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, “Traffic incident closes three left lanes of Outer Loop I-495 at the American Legion Bridge. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”
