Bethesda

Harper Caron, the president of the Texas-based Uncle Julio’s restaurants which have two MoCo locations (Bethesda and Gaithersburg), was found dead in a Dallas hotel room earlier this week.

Caron, who attended the University of Maryland, was the General Manager of Uncle Julio’s Bethesda location years ago, before being named the president of the company in 2019.

Fryer‘s Roadside at 12830 New Hampshire Ave (former location of Chopaan Kabob House) in the Meadowood Shopping Center is now open. The restaurant offers farm-fresh fried chicken, hand-cut fries, coleslaw, fried rice, soft-serve ice cream, and snowballs.

We spoke with owner Steve Englehardt back in the spring and he told us their sauces will all be made in-house and will feature mumbo sauce, a Memphis style hot sauce, and habanero sauce with the habanero and jalapeño peppers grown in the garden behind the restaurant.All of their rolls come from nearby, and locally legendary, Woodmoor Bakery. Hours of operation will be 11am-9pm daily. The menu can be seen below:

Beyond MoCo: DC Mask Mandate Could Stay in Effect Through Thanksgiving, Depending on Vaccination Rates

NBC 4’s Mark Segraves tweeted today that according to DC health officials, the current mask mandate could last a few more weeks and possibly through Thanksgiving if vaccinations do not increase.
