Park Police are reminding residents that beginning Monday, September 22, Sligo Creek Parkway between Wayne Avenue and Piney Branch Road will be closed for approximately two months to allow Purple Line crews to install tracks across the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Sligo Creek. Levita Almuete Ferrer, 65, of Montgomery Village, Md., was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 12 months and one day in prison for embezzling more than $650,000 from the U.S. State Department over a two-year period, using the funds to fuel her gambling addiction, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

The Washington Commanders’ 41–24 win over the Las Vegas Raiders had a dramatic moment just before halftime that involved head coach Dan Quinn taking a big hit on the sidelines. As the team got into field goal position, quarterback Marcus Mariota accidentally collided with head coach Dan Quinn, knocking him to the ground and bloodying his nose. Quinn’s head hit the turf as he went down, but he quickly bounced back up and continued coaching as if nothing had happened, drawing reactions from players and staff after the game.
