Restaurants

An enduring chapter in Wheaton’s dining history has come to a close. Cristina Ristorante Italiano, the beloved neighborhood Italian restaurant that has been a staple for over two decades, closed its doors permanently on Monday after making the decision to not renew the expiring lease.

U.S. District Court Judge Theodore D. Chuang sentenced Dr. Anissa Maroof, 48, of Potomac, Maryland, to 15 months in federal prison and two years of supervised release for illegally distributing and dispensing controlled substances through her Bethesda medical practice between 2019 and 2022. DC Sports

Veteran Washington sports reporter Rick Snider passed away on Tuesday after suffering a stroke on August 11. Known for his extensive coverage of Washington DC sports teams, particularly the Washington Commanders (formerly the Washington Redskins), Snider was a longtime journalist who had been writing sports columns even in his final days.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) arrested a 16-year-old suspect following an armed robbery and stabbing on August 25, 2025, near the Clarksburg Premium Outlets, where a teenage victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. (more…)
