The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is warning residents to be on alert after an elderly Clarksburg resident was recently targeted in a paving scam. The incident was shared by MCPD District 5 Commander Captain Nick Picerno, who noted that scammers often perform little to no work or use substandard materials, frequently targeting elderly residents.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced the indictments of Ronald Van Price and Walter O’Riley Poindexter for their alleged roles in a $479,000 procurement fraud and bribery scheme involving COVID-19 cleaning contracts at the Maryland Department of Labor.

DC Sports

The Washington Spirit announced this week that defender Casey Krueger has been added to the season-ending injury list, though this time it’s for the best possible reason… she’s expecting her second child. Krueger, who shared her pregnancy news on October 3, will take maternity leave as she and her husband Cody prepare to welcome a new addition to their family.

Montgomery County Police have arrested 31-year-old Darrell Dwayne Cousar of Silver Spring for allegedly breaking into a senior living facility on October 8, 2025, where he assaulted multiple elderly victims and attempted a sexual assault before being apprehended nearby and charged with multiple offenses.

Germantown

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded Friday morning to a rollover collision at Germantown Road and Seneca Meadows Parkway.

According to Chief Spokespersok for MCFRS Pete Piringer, four patients were evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries, and some lanes were temporarily blocked.

Maryland’s sports wagering market generated $13.47 million in state contributions in September 2025 from a total of $650.97 million in wagers, with bettors winning back $577.9 million. Of the total, $10.18 million went to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund supporting public education, and $3.29 million went to the state’s General Fund.
