The Maryland Park Service has announced that it will temporarily close Greenbrier State Park, the home of “Maryland’s Secret Beach” from May 5-9 as contractors repave the entrance road as part of ongoing upgrades to the park’s front entrance and contact station. These upgrades will help reduce traffic backups on busy weekends and holidays.

Back in January 2024 we let you know that Eggspectation, a restaurant that serves “elevated American cuisine with a lengthy all-day breakfast menu alongside hearty lunch and dinner fare”, is returning to Montgomery County with its upcoming Burtonsville location (15763 Old Columbia Pike). The restaurant is now set to open soon with almost all interior construction complete (photo below).

Per the State of Maryland: “Governor Wes Moore today announced that the U.S. flag and the Maryland flag will be lowered to half staff immediately to honor the life and service of His Holiness Pope Francis. Today, The Justice Department, together with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG), announced a $300 million settlement with Walgreens Boots Alliance, Walgreen Co., and various subsidiaries (collectively, Walgreens) to “resolve allegations that the national chain pharmacy illegally filled millions of invalid prescriptions for opioids and other controlled substances in violation of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) and then sought payment for many of those invalid prescriptions by Medicare and other federal health care programs in violation of the False Claims Act (FCA). The settlement amount is based on Walgreens’s ability to pay. Walgreens will owe the United States an additional $50 million if the company is sold, merged, or transferred prior to fiscal year 2032.”
