Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a near-drowning incident involving a teenager at a residential pool in Olney. The incident occurred around 5:45 pm at the 6900 block of NorthBrook Drive near Ascot Lane.
On Thursday, Governor Wes Moore signed an executive order establishing a coordinated, statewide approach to advancing environmental justice in Maryland by requiring state agencies to engage impacted communities, designate environmental justice officers, and use data tools like MDEnviroScreen to address pollution and health disparities in overburdened areas.

The next effort is called Build Gaithersburg 2040, which will be revising both the Land Use and Transportation Elements, looking out to 2040. Hopinka contributed to the exhibition catalog for Water’s Edge: The Art of Truman Lowe, writing on Lowe’s lasting impact on his work. Hopinka joins the museum for this special after hours event featuring a screening of three of his short video works followed by a discussion with Rebecca Head Trautmann, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art and exhibition curator, along with art-making activities, and time to enjoy Lowe’s work currently on view. Sky Hopinka has been widely recognized for his experimental short films and photo-based works. A MacArthur Fellow, Guggenheim Fellow, and Forge Project Fellow, his work has been shown in major film festivals, museums, and international exhibitions and is in numerous prominent museum collections. Hopinka is currently an assistant professor in the department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University.

Montgomery County Police have arrested 44-year-old Nicholas Lloyd of Germantown for allegedly shooting three people during an ongoing dispute outside his home on Shadyside Way on July 16, 2025. He faces multiple attempted murder and assault charges and is being held without bond.
