Newly announced, the festival will open on Friday evening, September 11, with a special tribute honoring the 25th anniversary of 9/11. All three bands performing that evening include veterans and active-duty military members.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has arrested 24-year-old Domonique Nicholas Walker of Silver Spring in connection with a series of commercial armed robberies that took place from November 2024 to February 2025.

Rockville-based Compost Crew Inc. (12343 Carroll Ave.) announced its annual results for 2024, which saw the company’s business grow significantly from the prior year. The company collected almost 26 million pounds of food scraps in 2024, an increase of roughly 30% over its 2023 total. The company also exceeded 20,000 homes serviced for the first time, placing Compost Crew among the largest dedicated food scrap recycling companies in the country.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Climate Prediction Center in College Park, MD has put out a ‘slight risk’ for heavy snow (20-40% chance) for the Mid-Atlantic, including all of Maryland.
