The community is rallying to support an Olney father and teacher identified as Nick, who was seriously injured while trying to help victims of a crash last week. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to support his family as he recovers from his injuries.

Vendor applications are now open for one of Wheaton’s most anticipated community events of the year. Organizers have announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Taste of Wheaton: Maryland’s Culinary & Culture Festival, which will take place on Sunday, June 7 at Marian Fryer Town Plaza.

MoCo Government

The Montgomery County Council will meet Tuesday, March 17 at 9:15 am, beginning with a proclamation recognizing National Theatre Day. During the session, the Council is expected to vote on zoning amendments aimed at expanding eligibility for biohealth campuses and mixed-income housing projects, review major portions of the FY27 to FY32 Capital Improvements Program including transportation, housing, stormwater, libraries, police facilities, and WSSC Water infrastructure, and hold a public hearing on a proposal to lease retail space at the Wheaton M-NCPPC headquarters to Silver Branch Brewing Company.

Education

Montgomery County Public Schools has shared a reminder of the adjustment to the school calendar for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year as the district continues working with the Maryland State Department of Education to address missed instructional days caused by winter weather.
