With October being National Energy Awareness Month and 52% of Americans saying that protecting the environment should be prioritized above economic growth, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s Greenest Cities in America, to identify the places where people prioritize living sustainably and protecting our environment. Washington DC came in ranked #2 in the country.

Event

General admission is $25 per person, which includes chili tastings. Free Admission for kids under 18, Police Officers and their Family is provided by MCPF). All proceeds benefit the Foundation’s mission to strengthen community-police relationships, support officers wellness, and enhance public safety initiatives across Montgomery County.

In addition to delicious chili, attendees can enjoy local craft beer from Lone Oak Brewery, family activities, and opportunities to meet and interact with Montgomery County police officers in a fun, relaxed setting.

Kura Revolving Sushi has announced it will be opening on Saturday, October 5th at 12266 Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza (Rockville). The conveyer belt, revolving sushi spot is taking over part of the space that was recently home to Chuy’s and previously home to Ruby Tuesday next to the recently opened Torchy’s Tacos.

Members from the Maryland Car Rally Task Force, working in collaboration with the Maryland State Police Special (MSP) Operations Division, and allied police agencies disrupted twelve unlawful exhibition driving events throughout multiple Maryland counties, including Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Howard and Baltimore, Saturday night.

MoCo Libraries

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is facing a system-wide network outage affecting Wi-Fi, public computers, and other services due to an underground fire in Baltimore that damaged fiber optic cables, although all branches remain open for material checkouts. (more…)

Maryland

Maryland Department of Health officials are advising Marylanders to stock up on free COVID-19 tests for the fall and winter. COVID-19 tests are now available at COVIDtests.gov and through many local health departments statewide.
