Per Montgomery Parks: September is upon us, and fall is just around the corner! Enjoy our outdoor summer activities before they are gone for the season. Check out these activities in the parks this Labor Day weekend from Friday, September 2, through Sunday, September 4!

Join us at Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park Saturday, September 3, from 10 am to 4 pm to commemorate International Underground Railroad Month(opens in a new tab) with a guided hike, museum admission, and a free children’s take home activity! The guided hike is offered at 10 am and 1 pm.

Bring your family to Wild Neighbors Campfire(opens in a new tab) at Brookside Nature Center, Saturday, September 3, 10:30 to 11:00 am, for a fun time around the fire learning about all the nature living in our backyards! Feel free to bring your own s’more supplies! Registration is required.

Do you or your child want to make a beautiful stepping stone for your yard or garden? Come to Create Your Stepping Stone(opens in a new tab) at Locust Grove Nature Center on Sunday, September 4, between 3:00 to 5:30 pm. You will have a chance to make a stone for yourself and for the nature center! Registration is required.

See Maryland’s native flying squirrels(opens in a new tab) at Brookside Nature Center! Join us on Friday, September 2, from 8:15 pm to 8:45 pm to look for and learn about these nocturnal animals. Registration is required.

Boats and MiniGolf

Do not miss the last chance to experience our lakes by boat, as they close for the season after the holiday weekend. Go paddling or pedaling with a boat rental from Black Hill Boats (opens in a new tab)at Black Hill Regional Park Saturday, September 3, to Monday, September 5, 10 am to 6 pm, and from Lake Needwood Boats(opens in a new tab) at Rock Creek Regional Park on Saturday, September 3, and Sunday, September 4, 10 am to 3 pm.

Also, it’s the last summer weekend to cool off at SplashPark and MiniGolf(opens in a new tab) at South Germantown Recreational Park. The facility is open Saturday, September 3, to Monday, September 5 from 10 am to 6 pm.
