The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) will offer its 2025 Holiday SoberRide program from December 19 through January 1, providing adults in the Washington-metropolitan area with free Lyft rides home (up to $15) between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. to help prevent impaired driving during a high-risk period for alcohol-related crashes.

Maryland State Police arrested a 24-year-old woman and charged her with first-degree murder and child abuse in the death of her five-week-old infant, whose autopsy showed evidence of trauma. Investigators recovered evidence supporting the charges after responding to a December 4 call where the baby was found deceased and initiating a homicide investigation. (more…)


Jose Ulises Aguilar-Martinez, 23, pleaded guilty today to six charges connected to the July 2024 carjacking that killed 54-year-old Melody Waldecker of Silver Spring. The plea was entered in Loudoun County Circuit Court, just weeks before a jury trial was set to begin on January 5.
