Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street in Washington, DC, will temporarily close at midnight on Monday, July 14, 2025, for the first major repairs in over 60 years, with plans to reopen in November. The updates aim to preserve the building’s historic character, and a temporary pop-up will serve customers across the street during the closure.

Six people, including Toyia Johnson of Rockville, were found guilty in connection with a 2021 Labor Day weekend triple homicide in Washington, D.C., that left three people dead and three others injured. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close and detour two ramps on I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) in Prince George’s County as part of a ramp resurfacing project beginning July 6. Work will take place overnight Sundays through Thursdays, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. All work is expected to be complete by the end of July, weather permitting.
